World Kidney Day was celebrated in Mekelle University, Ayder Referral Hospital starting from March 12, 2015 with a slogan of “kidney health for all” aiming to raise awareness on the importance of kidney to our overall health, Highlight the need for action to prevent this serious health condition (kidney diseases, Free screening campaign (check BP, glucose level, BMI) Health education on kidney disease, hypertension and their preventive methods.
Mr. Tesfay G/her G/hiwot a senior lecturer in Department of Public Health, College of Health Sciences, Mekelle University and a PhD fellow at Umea University Sweden. He won a best presenter award in a Global Health conference which was held from July 02-04/2014 in Negombo, Srilanka. As part of his PhD study, He had the honour to participate in two international conferences. The World Congress of Public Health which was held in our country [Ethiopia] in Addis Ababa (April 2012). To fulfil the requirement of the PhD education he needed to attend a second international conference as well.
Mekelle University, College of Health Science won the bid that announced by Federal Minister of Health (FMoH). FMoH with the financial support from Department International Development (DFID) announced a RFP for reproductive, Maternal and Neonatal Health Innovative Fund (RIF) Grants to reduce barriers to RMNH services uptake in Afar, Somali and pastoralist Woredas of Oromia and SNNPR regional State.
