Mekelle University Ayder Referral Hospital

Patient Attendant

To make our inpatient experience as positive and caring as possible, one designated “attendant” is allowed (and encouraged) to be present with admitted patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in all Wards.

The attendant will be asked to submit their ID to the Ward Facilitator Nurse in exchange for an attendant badge. The attendants ID will be returned once the Attendant badge is returned to the Ward Facilitator. The Attendant badge must be displayed at all times when entering the ward. The patient attendant is encouraged to actively participate in managing the patient’s care plan, forward any concerns or complains, and maintain good communication with the assigned nurses and ward head nurse.

All other non-attendant guests are welcome to visit patients 2 at a time during the following hours. Guests visiting the hospital outside of the posted hours will be expected to wait in the designated waiting areas
