A commencement ceremony was held for 63 students, of whom 27 are female, graduated in Architecture at Martyr’s Memorial Monument Center, Mekelle on the 25th of February, 2017. The ceremony was opened by Dr. Haddush Goitom, EiT-M’s Scientific Director with the rank of Vice President, who welcomed the attendees of the commencement and highlighted the humble beginnings of EiT-M and its consistent endeavors to support the country’s development through ensuring technology transfer and delivering need-based trainings.

Dr Kindeya Gebrehiwot, the President of MU, then made a commencement address congratulating the graduating students and reminding them of their responsibility when engaged in real work life with their respective communities.

A keynote speech was then made by the guest of honor and renowned Architect Fasil Giorgis from ‎EiABC (Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction and City Development). He called on the graduates to be able to give back to the community who helped them achieve what they have achieved. He also shared his experiences in Architecture and made a reference to the bright future ahead for them now that Ethiopia is making a huge progress in the construction sector.

The conferral of graduation was then made by the Associate Registrar, Mr. G/Mariam G/Silasie.

Students of distinction and above were presented with awards from the hands of the President of the University and the Scientific Director of EiT-M. 10 Students with best graduation projects were also recognized and they received their awards from the guest of honor Architect Fasil Girogis. A special recognition program was also held for 12 students who were engaged in a community service of designing and constructing a memorial museum and library at Ayder Elemenatry School, Mekelle.
