Mekelle University and Texas State University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that would enable them to establish a frame work of cooperation in various areas of interest, such as in collaborative research activities, international academic exchange, to ensure shared strategic plans, and to facilitate cross –cultural engagement for the enhancement of their programs and in other further interests.

To be specific, the terms of cooperation for each specific activity implemented under the MOU, including promote academic /specific /professional relations between the institutions, develop teaching and research activities of common interests to both institutions, Encourage teacher and student mobility and exchanges, promote discussion and the exchange of experience in all those areas of mutual benefit to both institutions, encourage collaborations between the LBJ (Lyndon Baines Johnson) Institute for STEM education and research and MU.

On the event, after warmly welcomed to the delegates, Prof. Kindeya G/Hiwot, President of Mekelle University, addressed that the university is happy and excited to become partners with Texas State University on projects that will have such a strong impact on women leadership in STEM. And he added that this cooperation will have a great contribution for the the development engagments of the university and the country at large.

Dr. Aracli M.Ortiz, Executive director and Principal Invetigator LBJ institute for STEM Education and Research, in her speech she remarks that Texsas state University is committed to empower and uplift professional women in STEM and prone to build their capacity in Leadership through STEM Education that would potentially able them to have successful future.

Texas State University and MU have mutually discussed and agreed upon in writing by both parties prior to the initiation of that activity. It was recalled that trainings has been given to the university on STEM women leadership.
