Mekelle University and NATNA 10k ROAD RACE-MEKELLE has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation on 7 February 2016. The Memorandum of understanding will provide a framework of cooperation and facilitate collaboration in areas of athletics and public health.
On the event, Athlete Gebregziabher Gebremariam said that NATNA 10k ROAD RACE-MEKELLE is mainly launched with a bid to play its role in local, regional and national sports activities. One of its objectives is to help improve lack of young athletes and create access and opportunity for incoming athletes to participate in big competitions. He also added that the road race would be the beacon for further endeavors in promoting our cities.
Dr. Kindeya Gebrehiwot, President of MU, expressed the university's commitment in the production of healthy and productive citizens. He also mentioned that the university is currently investing in a variety of sporting arenas and facilities which we is believed to have huge implications on the socio-economic development of the country. He also extended his gratitude for the founders of the road race for their exemplary endeavors.
