A visit to Mehoni Agricultural Research and Innovation Farm

A team from Mekelle University and partners, led by Mekelle University President,

visited the 100 ha Mehoni Agricultural Research and Innovation Farm. The objective of the visit was to see the progress of the sweet potato seed multiplication project jointly run by Mekelle University, Tigray Agricultural Research Institute, Tigray Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Development, GG Farm PLC and FAO. The goal of the project is to distribute 5,000,000 orange flashed sweet potato vine cut seedlings to 200,000 farm households in 12 Weredas and 3 City administrations in Tigray and ease the food and nutrition shortage caused by the total siege imposed on our people by the federal government of Ethiopia and its allies. The project is going well and will deliver the seedlings as promised. Dr. Fana Hagos, President of Mekelle University, has appreciated the ongoing work and gave directions on the way forward.
