Mekelle University–Mekelle Institute of Technology Conducts External Curriculum Review Workshop for MSc Program in Artificial Intelligence
Mekelle University–Mekelle Institute of Technology (MU–MIT) successfully conducted an External Curriculum Review Workshop for its proposed Master of Science (MSc) Program in Artificial Intelligence on June 13, 2026, at the MIT Hall.
The workshop brought together academic leaders, subject-matter experts, industry representatives, and other stakeholders to review and enrich the curriculum, ensuring its alignment with current technological advancements, industry demands, and national development priorities.
The event commenced with a welcoming address by Mr. Solomon Teklehaimanot, Dean of Mekelle Institute of Technology. In his remarks, he warmly welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of continuous curriculum enhancement in maintaining academic excellence and producing highly skilled professionals capable of addressing emerging technological challenges. He also highlighted the strategic significance of Artificial Intelligence and the University's commitment to becoming both a user and contributor in the field through education, research, and innovation.
The workshop was officially opened by Dr. Abderkadir Kedir, Academic Vice President of Mekelle University. In his opening speech, he underscored the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence in education, research, innovation, and national development. He further stressed the value of involving external experts and stakeholders in curriculum development to ensure the program meets international standards and responds to emerging societal and technological needs.
