A delegation led by President Dr. Fana Hagos, paid a visit to Thomas More University of Applied Sciences in Belgium to participate in the 19th Thomas More International days held during 18 - 21 March 2024. The visit was part of the international networking and partnership revitalisation mission, and the delegation has met and discussed potential collaboration opportunities with the top management (Prof. Stijn Coenen, President and Sofie Mols, Director of Innovation, Research and Internationalization) and senior Professors of Thomas More University. Productive discussions were made about the ongoing joint collaborative initiatives on digital innovation projects as well as other potential future collaborations on research, staff and student mobility, entrepreneurship and technology incubation, etc.

The delegation has also met and talked to higher education representatives from various African and European countries on fostering mutually beneficial South-South and North-South-South partnerships in research, capacity building, technology development and transfer, and community engagement. Mekelle University will make use of these and other promising international collaboration initiatives for the wellbeing, empowerment and resilience of the community it serves.
